Oral Sedation

For patients who are slightly more anxious, uncooperative or for whom an uncomfortable procedure is anticipated, oral sedation is a great option. It provides more anxiety reduction than laughing gas alone and is often used in conjunction with laughing gas so that a lower dose of the oral medication is needed. Perhaps the most beneficial side effect of the medication that we use is that it has an amnestic effect, so that even if your child doesn’t like the procedure, he/she will not remember it and therefore will not be fearful of returning to the dentist.
